BBVA actively participates in various forums on the New Agreement on Capital known as Basle 2.

Basle 2 is seen as a great opportunity for the following reasons:

• It will encourage advanced risk management.
• Convergence of economic capital and regulatory capital.
• Greater medium-term stability in the international financial system.  
• There is still room to improve certain technical aspects such as the treatment of diversification. This improvement could lead to real convergence of the financial systems of emerging countries.
