The BBVA chair of the viola BBVA sponsors the chair of the viola department at the Queen Sofia School of Music, which is one of the Albéniz Foundation’s programmes. The school will help to modernise musical education in Spain. It is recognized in international circles and it dedicates special attention to students from Spain, Portugal and Latin America. The BBVA spring cycle of concerts will take place in May 2005 – coinciding with the Raphael to Degas exhibition. Paintings, drawings and sculpture from the Fabre Museum in Montpellier, in co-operation with the school. BBVA’s shareholders and customers will attend the concerts. The school’s Freixenet orchestra, directed by Maximiano Valdés, gave a concert in November 2005 to open the 2005/06 academic year Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía. The Bilbao Opera BBVA is also sponsors the Bilbao opera-lovers association, which produced Don Giovanni by Mozart during the 2005/06 season.
Others musical events Concert by the Friends of the Romantic Museum Foundation at the Marques de Salamanca Palace in Madrid as part of the second cycle of Music and Palaces. The concert was held in September 2004. The opera Tosca in La Coruña, sponsored by BBVA to mark the St James Jubilee. |
