Masterpieces in the BBVA collection. Spanish painting from the 15th to the 20th century Virtual tour of the exhibition>> The exhibition is a historic itinerary that gives the visitor a basic idea of the best works in Spanish painting between the 15th and 20th century. What the exhibits have in common is that they are all internationally famous artists represented in the BBVA collection. The tour starts with examples of Flemish and Hispano-Flemish painting in the 15th century and some priceless works from the Renaissance. The 17th century is the most widely represented with two still-life paintings by Tomás Hiepes, two portraits by Juan Carreño de Miranda and some religious scenes by Murillo. There are two excellent portraits by Goya from the 18th century together with paintings by Esteve and Eugenio Lucas. 19th-century works include seascapes by Martí i Alsina and Meifren; landscapes by Regoyos and Rusiñol; and outstanding pieces Sorolla, Iturrino, Zuloaga and Arteta. It finishes with an extensive and varied assembly of contemporary art. This exhibition was traveling around six countries in Latin America in 2004 and 2005: in Mexico, The San Carlos National Museum (Mexico DF), in Chile, The National Fine Arts Museum (Santiago de Chile), in Peru, The Pedro de Osma Museum (Lima), in Colombia, The Colombia National Museum (Bogota), in Venezuela, The Caracas Fine Arts Museum, and in Puerto Rico, The Puerto Rico Art Museum (San Juan).
