a passion for society, a passion for art and culture,
BBVA organises another Solidarity Run in Madrid
7 September 2009
As in 2008, once again this year a blue tide is set to flood the streets of Madrid with the BBVA Solidarity Run - Carrera Solidaria BBVA to be held this coming 1 November, with two simultaneous routes of 5 and 10 kilometres through the streets of the Spanish capital. The start will take place at 9 o’clock in the morning outside the BBVA tower at Paseo de la Castellana 81.
Those wishing to take part in the race are kindly requested to register on the website www.carrerapopularbbva.com and pay an entry fee of €5. The entire proceeds will be donated to the UN’s agency for helping and protecting refugees, UNHCR, through its Spanish Committee. Through their fee, participants will help to provide primary schooling for children, as well as school equipment. Like last year, BBVA will contribute an additional sum to match the total amount of the entry fees, bringing the overall donation up to at least €50,000. The total amount will be donated for the aforementioned purposes to the Spanish Committee of UNHCR. This initiative is part of the 2008-2010 cooperation agreement subscribed between the two institutions.
Just for registering, all the participants will receive the official shirt worn by Spanish athletes at the recent world championships, as well as a pair of sports socks, amongst other gifts.
In addition, www.carrerapopularbbva.com provides a raft of on-line services for keeping fit, such as a virtual trainer, meetups with other runners, a diet control and the personalised creation of routes. Using any of these services will also make participants eligible for sundry gifts and prizes.
The deadline for registration falls on 25 October. This event is open to employees, customers and their friends in a fusion of sport, friendship and solidarity.
The Solidarity Run in the Americas
