More than 400 projects participate in the II edition of BBVA Open Talent
26 January 2010
BBVA Open Talent is a program to support entrepreneurs and start-ups. Its participants increase their visibility and can win an investment from BBVA worth up to 100,000 euros. The program aims to channel talent and external innovation into BBVA while supporting entrepreneurs and newly created SMEs.

So far, this second edition of BBVA Open Talent has attracted over 400 projects, of which more than 300 have progressed to the second phase. The website www.bbvaopentalent.com has received 51,182 votes and 138,509 visits by 105,475 users from 121 countries. The voting period for the candidates ends in three weeks.

Más de 400 proyectos participan en la II edición de BBVA Open Talent

BBVA Open Talent is an initiative developed by the Corporate Innovation department. It combines the main principles on which BBVA is based: innovation, concern for people, creation of solutions with value, and the conviction that there is a great deal of talent outside the Group which only needs a little encouragement to begin to work.

After the success of the first BBVA Open Talent supporting entrepreneurs in the early months of 2009, with 375 projects and 140,000 votes cast by the community, BBVA decided to launch the program a second time.

This second edition is international in scope and the investment offered is up to 100,000 euros for the best projects selected jointly by the entrepreneurs themselves and the BBVA jury. A new part of the program this year is the prize for the project most voted by the entrepreneurs themselves. The winner will become the reporter for BBVA Open Talent, with BBVA providing financial sponsorship, in one of the most popular events in the U.S. dealing with new business talent.

The second year of BBVA Open Talent is currently at the stage of voting for projects, which began on 1 January and will end on 15 February. The projects presented must be innovative and may either be up and running or in the start-up phase. They are divided into the following categories: Payment Methods, SME Management Tools, Cloud Computing, Financial Services in Social Networks and Digital News.

The BBVA will also undertake numerous activities in training, dissemination and publicity of the projects presented to support their success. All this fits perfectly with the way BBVA understands innovation: anticipating value solutions.
