BBVA enables customers to manage security levels on their smartphones from a single point in the app. Users can configure the “security area” from the menu, and they can disable functionality for all their accounts and contracted products or even hide them from view. This is how BBVA Spain’s app, recently recognized for the second year in a row by Forrester Research as the best in Europe, has become a veritable remote control for mobile customers. Users can configure all the app’s permission settings and enable travel mode.

BBVA, a pioneer in real-time customer enrollment, has enhanced its online sign-up process. Last year, the bank announced the creation of Veridas, a technology company specializing in authentication systems. BBVA has unveiled Valora View, the first app in the European Banking sector using augmented reality to help prospective buyers or renters find a home. With this new free service, available for both customers and non-customers of the bank, BBVA launches a tool that, harnessing the power of big data, is capable of providing users with recommended purchase or rent prices for a specific property. And not only that: The application can also provide advice on whether it makes more sense to buy or rent, and even run mortgage simulations.

Our mobile phones have become an extension of ourselves. Even more so when looking at markets like Spain where there is significant smartphone market penetration. That’s why BBVA has committed its firm support to creating a unique experience for its customers using mobile devices. The data validates the positive progress made by the business in this digital channel. The bank’s app in Spain has just surpassed 5 million downloads by individual Android users, and at the close of March, the number of mobile customers exceeds 3.4 million.

Little by Little, big data is making a place for itself in day-to-day life in its use in processes that have become almost essential. One example of this is the success of the BBVA Valora tool that allows anyone to know the best price at which to buy or rent a house. Since it was launched in September, the tool has received over 500,000 hits, half of which by non-BBVA customers, which shows its widespread acceptance.
