BBVA’s app is the main channel customers use to contact the bank. Over 75 percent of customers around the world use the app. With this level of outreach, the current challenge for BBVA entails getting customers to use the new features and do more mobile transactions. To achieve this, the bank has developed a strategy to improve the digital intensity of its customers, with which it has increased interactions on the app by 32 percent in just one year, largely driven by the financial health services.

BBVA in Colombia redesigned its smartphone app. From now on, the app will feature a new interface, run faster, offer more security and provide new functionalities. This marks the launch in Colombia of BBVA's global mobile banking app, which is already active in Spain, Mexico, Peru and Argentina, among other countries. Today, more than 1.7 million Colombian users are using the new version of the app on their smartphones.

BBVA has partnered with the authentication solutions company Nok Nok Labs — one of the driving forces behind the new FIDO (Fast Identity Online) standard aimed at strengthening the security of biometric systems on mobile devices. The agreement is part of BBVA's strategy to improve the security and user experience of its mobile banking services through state-of-the-art biometric capabilities.

BBVA remains the global mobile banking leader in 2019, according to ‘The Forrester Banking Wave™: Global MobileApps Summary, 2019’. BBVA’s mobile app combines “exceptional functionality with the best user experience.” Garanti BBVA, the Group’s Turkish franchise, is also in the report, which states that it is “one of the first banks to launch an in-app, voice-activated virtual agent.”

The potential of open banking to change the face of financial service provision has been laid bare in a new deal between car-hailing giants Uber and digitally focused global bank BBVA.

BBVA and Uber, leaders in their respective markets in Mexico, announced their alliance, which sees BBVA launching an entirely new financial experience by making its services available in a third party platform for the benefit of Uber driver and delivery partners and their families.

That's why BBVA has committed its firm support to creating a unique experience for its customers using mobile devices. The data validates the positive progress made by the business in this digital channel. The bank's app in Spain has just surpassed 5 million downloads by individual Android users, and at the close of March, the number of mobile customers exceeds 3.4 million.
