Agriculture has become the driver of the Argentine economy. Heavy investment in infrastructure (roads, trains, hydraulic construction) will help to improve costs, opening the road to a growth which seems infinite, thanks to a persistent and solid demand.

We need to produce more with less, a challenge that the farm sector has already begun to answer, thanks to the Internet of Things, whose sensors have brought the benefits of big data to the farmsteads and croplands.

After seven years of negotiations, the Canada-Europe Trade Agreement, CETA, has entered into force provisionally. Under this bilateral agreement, the most ambitious signed to date by Brussels, most custom duties levied on trade flows between both countries will be scrapped.

There are around 170,000 small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Uruguay. They create more than 60% of jobs and are responsible for more than 40% of the industrial, trade and services sectors’ production. The importance of this sector for the country’s economy has led BBVA Uruguay to join the regional project ‘Camino al éxito’ (‘The Road to Success’), a program integrated in the BBVA Group’s Responsible Business Plan. The main goal is to increase the number of SME customers.
