BBVA Raises More Than €1 Million in Humanitarian Relief for Venezuela in 48 Hours

BBVA’s fundraising campaigns in Spain alongside the Red Cross, UNHCR, and UNICEF to support Venezuela following the earthquakes have already raised more than €1 million in donations in just 48 hours. BBVA is calling on everyone who would like to support the recovery effort to join its fundraising campaigns in the countries where it operates, including Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, Switzerland, and Türkiye.

BBVA recauda en España más de un millón de euros de ayuda humanitaria para Venezuela

On June 30, the BBVA Group launched fundraising campaigns targeting employees, customers, and the general public to support the humanitarian response to the ongoing emergency in Venezuela. It also launched a range of additional initiatives to support those affected, including financial relief measures, the collection of essential supplies at its headquarters in Caracas, and the deployment of personnel with extensive experience in earthquake damage assessment to assist with building inspections and repair efforts. Moreover, BBVA approved a €5 million donation to support the Red Cross, UNICEF, UNHCR, and other local organizations in Venezuela.

The funds will be used to address the most pressing needs, including protecting people in safe areas, providing psychological support, assisting children through schools and temporary play spaces, delivering emergency assistance to people left homeless—including shelter, protection, and essential supplies in the aftermath of the earthquakes—and helping restore livelihoods. They will also support longer-term reconstruction efforts.
