World Finance Magazine and European CEO Magazine pay tribute to the BBVA unit’s achievements in customer experience and digital transformation. Garanti has been named as “the Best Retail Bank in Turkey” by World Finance Magazine and as “the Best Retail Bank in Europe” by European CEO Magazine in recognition of the quality of customer experience it delivers, the digital transformation of its branches and innovative projects and solutions such as its instant e-commerce loan.

BBVA Colombia has been recognized as the best bank in the country by Euromoney magazine, thanks to the progress made in the digital transformation process that the institution launched a few years ago. Other reasons cited by the publication that merited the award include the expansion of the institution’s digital customer base, its financial results and its solid market position.

BBVA has been recognized in five different categories at the year’s ‘Euromoney Awards for Excellence’. The bank received honors in regional categories like “Latin America’s best transactional bank”, and country categories such as “Mexico’s best bank”, “Mexico’s best investment bank”, and “Colombia’s best bank”. BBVA’s Turkish franchise Garanti was also recognized as “Best bank for sustainable finance.”

The trade media Structured Retail Products (SRP) has recognized BBVA in six of eight categories for which the bank was nominated. In its 2018 awards publication, the organization underscores BBVA’s capabilities as a global structured products house for foreign exchange and interest rates. BBVA was singled out in the distributor category, winning best distributor performance in Peru and Mexico, best distributor in Peru, and was one of the finalists for best distributor in Mexico.

The 2018 updates to the prestigious list of the world’s best restaurants were announced in Bilbao. Chef Massimo Bottura’s Osteria Francescana took the top spot of “The World’s 50 Best” ranking. El Celler de Can Roca took second place, thus celebrating 10 years in the top five of the world’s best restaurants. Mauro Colagreco’s Mirazur rounded out the podium in third place this year. The winner of the first ever 50 Best BBVA Scholarship was also introduced during the ceremony. Taiwanese Jessie Liu will join the team at Andoni Luis Aduriz’s Mugaritz in the upcoming weeks.

BBVA’s mobile banking app has been named a leader in Europe. According to the report published today by Forrester Research, ‘The Forrester Banking Wave: European Mobile Apps – Q2 2018’ BBVA has the top-ranked app with an overall score of 87/100. Forrester assessed 12 mobile banking apps from top financial institutions on the continent. Garanti, BBVA’s Turkish franchise, took the second spot in the same evaluation. BBVA also took the top spot in last year’s analysis also published by Forrester.

BBVA Bancomer has been crowned as the most innovative bank in Latin America in this year’s edition of British publication Global Finance’s The Innovators 2018 awards, which recognize the institutions that systematically identify new businesses and design new financial tools. With this award, the magazine acknowledges the institution’s value proposal, which includes a customer-centric data-based user-friendly design, developed in collaboration with the fintech ecosystem.

Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto has honored Francisco González with the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle in recognition of his professional career. At the awards ceremony, BBVA Group Executive Chairman extended his gratitude and expressed confidence in the future of the country. “Mexico is destined to play a leading role in the community of nations. It has everything: resources, keen, hard-working people and its geographical location.”

Payment and Banking, a German publication spectating in fintech, names solarisBank the ‘best fintech of 2017’, for its exponential growth. BBVA recently took part in a funding round in which the firm raised €56.6 million.

BBVA Group Executive Chairman Francisco González has been distinguished with the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle, in the grade of Plaque. The Aztec Eagle is the highest distinction awarded by the Mexican government at international level. The award stands as a testament to  Francisco González’s outstanding career, “which has allowed to benefit Mexican society through projects in healthcare and education, stimulating young entrepreneurs in Mexico.”

BBVA’s Garanti Bank has been named Silver Stevie Winner in the category of ‘Best Use of Technology in Sales’ for its new onsite banking application. The new platform greatly enhances the mobility of sales teams by allowing them to carry out direct, independent and face-to-face, off-branch business with customers where the customers are.

Global Finance magazine has chosen BBVA as the best technological bank in Latin America in 2018. Since the outbreak of the financial crisis, the world of fintech and new technologies have become an increasingly pivotal component of financial institutions and transactional security. That’s what’s driven the prestigious publication to pay tribute to the institutions that are doing a great job at harnessing the power of these new technologies.

Yet another year, BBVA was named best investment banking in Spain and Mexico by U.S. publication Global Finance Magazine. Also, for the first time, BBVA secured a spot in the ‘Best investment bank’ and ‘Best bank for new financial technology’ categories in Latin America, thanks to its technological efforts and significant advances in digital transformation.

Following up on her recognition of being named among the Most Powerful Women in Business by Black Enterprise, BBVA Compass Chief Talent & Culture Executive Rosilyn Houston has recently earned an appearance on the publication’s top executives list, 300 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America. Houston’s recognition underscores her contribution to positioning BBVA Compass as an inclusive, innovative and employee-centric organization.

Garanti Bank is recognized internationally with its practices in gender equality and once again included in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index. Through its numerous practices and initiatives for ensuring gender equality within its human resources as well as its activities directed to customers and the community, Garanti is the only company to be included in the index from Turkey.

‘World Finance’ magazine has selected BBVA Bancomer as the Best Digital Bank in Mexico 2017, and its Bancomer Móvil app as the country´s Best Mobile Banking application.  These two accolades in the latest edition of the ‘World Finance Banking Awards’ recognize BBVA Bancomer ‘s ongoing efforts to promote digital banking in Mexico. They also underscore the challenge that the financial sector faces in using technology to transform the user experience.

Garanti Bank’s online banking service was named second best in Europe by Forrester, one of the most influential research and advisory firms in the world. The Turkish bank also earned a best-in-class mention for facilitating daily banking operations, such as viewing recent transactions, checking account balances or moving money.

BBVA Spain earned the highest overall score in Forrester Research report, entitled “2017 Online Banking Functionality Benchmark.” Forrester analyzed 13 European retail banks’ secure websites for the report, including institutions in the United Kingdom, France, Turkey, the Netherlands and Italy. BBVA’s Turkish bank, Garanti, was also ranked second on the list. BBVA also received the highest overall score in Forrester’s July report “Global Mobile Banking Benchmark 2017.”

BBVA won the Spanish Company category of the third annual Spanish-Turkish Official Chamber of Commerce and Industry prizes, which recognize achievements in promoting mutual understanding between the two countries. At the event, Jorge Sáenz de Azcúnaga, BBVA’s Director of Country Monitoring, said BBVA’s Turkish subsidiary Garanti Bank is one of the pillars of the group’s transformation.

GarantiBank International NV (GBI), a member of the BBVA Group, received an innovation award at the Outsystems Annual “NextStep” Event in Utrecht, the Netherlands. GBI won the prize for being the first bank in the Netherlands to obtain the consent of the Dutch Central Bank to bring its core banking processes to the cloud.
