Javier Rodríguez Soler, Global Head of Sustainability and Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB), has been named to American Banker’s inaugural “50 Most Innovative People in Finance” list. The recognition highlights his leadership in accelerating BBVA’s transformation through the integration of artificial intelligence, advanced analytics and sustainability across the bank’s global operations. American Banker also recognized BBVA’s deployment of generative AI tools and continued investment in digital banking and sustainable finance solutions.

Having also won the award in 2022, the bank has now earned the accolade in 2024 for its focus on innovation, digitization and sustainability. BBVA Spain Country Manager Peio Belausteguigoitia described the award as “a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the entire BBVA team” and emphasized the bank’s commitment to integrating advanced technologies to improve customer service. In addition, BBVA received the global award for financial inclusion for its work through the BBVA Microfinance Foundation. The bank was also recognized as the best in Peru and Venezuela.
The Banker/Private Wealth Magazine has recognized BBVA as the best private bank in Colombia and Peru in the 2024 edition of the awards. The bank has also been singled out as offering the best high net worth client service in Latin America. The Banker also commended BBVA’s private banks operating in Mexico and Spain.
BBVA was presented the ‘Sustainability Action 24’ award by Compromiso RSE for the bank’s support of the clean technology ecosystem. The organization specifically recognizes the creation of a unit dedicated exclusively to financing cleantech, as well as BBVA being the only financial institution participating in the ‘Cleantech for Iberia’ initiative.
