The British magazine, which belongs to the Financial Times, has crowned BBVA as the best financial institution in Peru for its progress toward digitalization and sustainability. It also recognized BBVA as Bank of the Year in Latin America thanks to its ability to outperform its competitors, not only in Peru but throughout the wider region.
The magazine was impressed by the growth of the bank’s mobile app, which has become the most popular banking channel among customers, ahead of Internet banking, ATMs and bank branches. Aside from the BBVA App, the other digital channels have also grown strongly, since as of March 2023, the bank had 3.23 million digital customers.
According to The Banker, BBVA in Peru has an outstanding portfolio of sustainable products, including its Eco Mortgage to acquire sustainable homes, with green homes now accounting for 60% of the total mortgage portfolio.
The magazine also named BBVA the best Bank in Latin America, in view of its sizable presence across the region and the Group’s ongoing drive to promote sustainable financing. Notably, the Group has channelled €185 billion into the sustainable business between 2018 and September of 2023, while tripling its commitment to sustainable finance to €300 million.
