BBVA creates a specialized International Private Banking unit in Spain for high-net-worth clients

BBVA has announced the creation of a new specialized International Private Banking unit in Spain to serve global clients seeking to invest in the country. This new unit joins the existing platforms in Switzerland and the United States, strengthening BBVA’s international model and positioning Spain as a strategic hub within its global, high-value-added service offering.

The new unit is designed to provide an exclusive service tailored to the needs of international clients—particularly those from markets such as Mexico, Colombia, and Peru—who are looking to diversify their wealth outside their home countries. Spain—especially cities like Madrid—has become a key destination for these investors, thanks not only to its financial appeal but also to its quality of life and real-estate investment opportunities

This specialized unit’s value proposition builds on BBVA’s international platform, Global Wealth, which links all of the Group’s local private banking businesses and enables a seamless, consistent level of service worldwide.

The team at this new office, located in central Madrid, is made up of highly specialized private bankers dedicated exclusively to this segment. They bring deep expertise in the wealth, tax, and legal considerations specific to each client’s home country. Their personalized service is strengthened by close coordination with BBVA’s local teams in clients’ countries of origin, allowing for comprehensive wealth management across borders.

“Private Banking is one of BBVA Group's core strengths. Our global private banking unit, Global Wealth, is focused on offering clients with interests in multiple geographies a seamless and distinctive experience, becoming their trusted financial partner through a transparent, comprehensive, and consistent approach to advisory, relationship management, and wealth solutions," said Jaime Lázaro, BBVA's Head of Asset Management & Global Wealth.”
