BBVA was recognized by the international magazine Global Finance as the World’s Best Bank in Emerging Markets in the 2026 edition of the World’s Best Bank awards. The BBVA Group is the top financial institution in Mexico, and it has leading banks in South America and Türkiye. “We have leading franchises in highly attractive markets with great potential for growth, which has allowed us to deliver excellent results and reduce volatility over time thanks to our geographic diversification,” said Jorge Sáenz de Azcúnaga, Global Head of Country Monitoring at BBVA. “This award is a recognition of the work of our teams and our commitment to innovation and excellence in the quality of service we provide our clients.”

The publication presents these awards to financial institutions around the world after assessing their performance over the past year, along with other criteria such as reputation and management excellence. The Editorial Board of Global Finance oversaw the selection process, with contributions from corporate financial executives, analysts and bankers around the world. The assessment also considers the entries submitted by the banks, as well as independent research based on various objective and subjective factors.

Joseph Giarraputo, founder and editorial director of Global Finance, emphasized the strength of the global banking sector and the role of banks that balance stability with transformation. “For more than three decades, Global Finance’s World’s Best Bank awards have honored organizations that combine financial strength, technological innovation and effective risk management with the ability to successfully navigate regulatory scrutiny, geopolitical volatility and shifting client expectations,” he said.
