Discrete mode of BBVA Spain’s app hides your data when it detects someone looking at your screen
BBVA’s smart ‘discrete mode’ in its app detects when more than one pair of eyes is looking at the screen and hides sensitive information. Therefore, you can do your banking and view and manage your cards anywhere, while keeping your financial data private, making it illegible to onlookers and possible cybercriminals. Below we tell you how to activate this feature.

The ride home on the subway, the waiting room at the dentist or the line for the butcher… the perfect time to do minor banking transactions, such as sending a Bizum for yesterday’s dinner, topping up a card balance or checking to see how much you have saved for your summer vacation. However, doing so in a public location always comes with the risk that your banking data could be exposed to prying eyes, or people who could misuse this information.
In order to enhance the privacy of this data, BBVA has added an artificial intelligence engine on its app that detects the number of faces viewing the screen. If it notes the presence of more than one user, other than the user who logged in, it automatically hides account and card balances. The option is available for any Android or iOS user, and for customers who have given the app permission to use the camera.
Therefore, BBVA’s ‘discrete mode’ turns any place into a safe space for your finances, protecting what is yours from even the most prying eyes. Because looking after your money, also ensures your peace of mind.
