Garanti BBVA is sharpening its focus on water efficiency, positioning itself at the forefront of Türkiye’s efforts to ensure sustainable industrial growth in water-intensive sectors. Backing a new study prepared in collaboration with the Türkiye Informatics Foundation’s Starting Point platform, the bank examines water usage and efficiency potential in the food, textile, and paper industries. These sectors together account for a major share of industrial water consumption in Türkiye.

On November 6-8, 2025, 1,600 senior and middle managers from across Türkiye met in Antalya for the annual Executives Meeting, with the theme “We are ready for the future: we will make it happen together.”  The 2025 event focused on the bank’s strategic goals, underscored its accomplishments and analyzed the areas of growth that will shape the future. BBVA CEO Onur Genç joined the meeting, where he discussed the group’s global vision and the strategic role Garanti BBVA plays in making this vision a reality.

Garanti BBVA made history in Türkiye by isuing the first biodiversity blue bond, a landmark transaction aimed at protecting marine ecosystems. The $20.22 million bond has a three year maturity and will be used to support the sustainable management of marine ecosystems in the Mediterranean basin.

Garanti BBVA recently announced its results for the first nine months of the year, reporting TL 84.47 billion in net income, TL 4.27 trillion in assets and TL 3.23 trillion in cash and non-cash loans. Customer deposits funded 69.1 percent of assets, with the deposit base reaching TL 2.91 trillion in the first nine months of 2025 – up 38.7 percent. The bank’s capital adequacy ratio stood at 16.3 percent,¹ return on average equity (ROAE) was 30.9 percent, and return on average assets (ROAA) was 3.1 percent.

Garanti BBVA’s flagship environmental program, the Blue Breath Project, has helped identify Türkiye’s oldest seagrass meadow off the coast of Kızılada near Göcek. Led by Professor Ergün Taşkın, a team of scientists confirmed the meadow’s age at about 2,000 years, the first time such an ecosystem has been dated in the country. Researchers believe the discovery could reshape marine conservation.

Garanti BBVA has entered a new era in asset management in Türkiye by migrating its crypto asset portfolios to its app, Garanti BBVA Mobile. Garanti BBVA Crypto users can now easily view their crypto assets, along with price information in real time, gains and losses, and watchlists directly from the ‘Investments’ menu in the bank’s mobile app.

BBVA’s Turkish unit reported net income of TL 53.6 billion for the first half of 2025, according to consolidated financial statements as of June 30. Total assets grew to TL 3.82 trillion, while the bank provided TL 2.95 trillion to the economy through cash and non-cash loans. Customer deposits remained the primary source of funding, accounting for 69.5 percent of total assets. The deposit base expanded 26.7 percent in the first six months to TL 2.66 trillion. The bank maintained a robust capital adequacy ratio of 15.6 percent.* Return on average equity (ROAE) stood at 30.7 percent, while return on average assets (ROAA) was 3.1 percent.

Garanti BBVA Crypto is partnering with Wyden, a global provider of institutional digital asset trading infrastructure, to strengthen its crypto service offering for retail and institutional clients. As part of the collaboration, Garanti BBVA Crypto will support trading pairs between the Turkish Lira, US Dollar, and other cryptocurrencies, expanding local market access and providing a seamless, efficient trading experience for Turkish investors.

Garanti BBVA was once again selected for the world’s most prestigious occupational healthand safety award at the 2025 International Safety Awards, organized by the U.K.-based non-profit organization, the British Safety Council. Of the 350 Turkish organizations that applied for the award, Garanti BBVA was the only financial institution to receive the award for the sixth year in a row.

‘Is our last chance?’ features eight documentaries that aim to draw attention to the urgent environmental and social impacts of climate change. From rising sea levels and increasing droughts to ecological devastation, the documentaries emphasize the pivotal role water plays in ecosystems, economies, and communities, and call for sustainable management of this vital resource. The screenings will take place at Salt Beyoğlu's Open Cinema from March 19 to April 19, 2025.
