50 Best Jobs in America: More than 65% exist here at BBVA Compass

Want to snag one of the 50 best jobs for 2019? More than half of America’s 50 best jobs, according to a recent listing by the popular job search site Glassdoor, can be found right here at BBVA Compass.

Glassdoor, a popular job search site where current and former employees can anonymously review companies and their management, recently published their annual list of the 50 Best Jobs in America— and more than 65% of the types of jobs named are positions that can be found at BBVA Compass.

The website’s list reinforces a key message the bank’s recruiters use when working to attract top talent: BBVA Compass creates opportunities to work in some of the most attractive jobs in the country.

With the bank’s continuing focus on technology, design, and innovation, there are more opportunities than ever for data scientists, UX designers, software developers, and professionals in high-demand careers to work under the same roof as bankers and other corporate professionals.

Cotton: Sharing the bank’s story of transformation and innovation is such a cool experience when recruiting for positions outside of traditional banking jobs.

“Sharing the bank’s story of transformation and innovation is such a cool experience when recruiting for positions outside of traditional banking jobs,” said Regional Recruitment Manager Trent Cotton. “We’re breaking the stereotype of banking as a ‘suit-and-tie’ environment and creating a new reputation for our industry, and potential recruits are excited to be a part of it.”

Technical Architect Phillip Ferentinos, Application Team Lead (the #33 job on Glassdoor’s list) Matt Lathrop, Sr. Lead Programmer Analyst Joel Shults, Project Manager (the #20 job on Glassdoor’s list) Hannah Wallace, and Technical Architect Bradley McCoy traveled to Spain this past November to participate in a Global Ether iO Hackathon.

The rankings include jobs that exist in most of the bank’s major units, including Engineering, Client Solutions, Risk Management, Talent & Culture, and Data—coincidentally, all areas that will also eventually employ the position that tops Glassdoor’s list, Data Scientist.

Director of People Analytics Morgan Turnipseed said he’s not surprised that role is in demand, and that the bank has a global strategy to train data and analytics professionals for the job.

“Every line of business at BBVA Compass is transforming to create data science units, which will focus on employing advanced analytics techniques to enable better data based decision-making,” he said.
