Garanti BBVA Renews Its Long-Standing Sponsorship of the Turkish Basketball Federation
Garanti BBVA has extended its partnership with the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) for another five years. The sponsorship, which began in 2001, is the longest-running sponsorship agreement in the history of Turkish basketball. TBF President Hidayet Türkoğlu and Garanti BBVA CEO Mahmut Akten announced the agreement at a signing ceremony on January 27, where they shared their commitment to continuing their collaboration to support Turkish basketball.
Over the next five years, Garanti BBVA will continue to be a part of the sport by creating equal opportunities and strong role models for children and young people and strengthening the position of Turkish basketball in the world. Garanti BBVA will remain the main sponsor of all national teams over the next five years, which includes the men’s national basketball team, ‘12 Dev Adam,’ the women’s national basketball team ‘Potanın Perileri,’ youth national teams, and the ’12 Dev Adam’ basketball schools.
Turkish Basketball Federation President Hidayet Türkoğlu stressed that Garanti BBVA has been a true partner at every level of the sport. “This is not just a sponsorship; it is a long-term journey and a strategic partnership established with the goal of growing, developing, and carrying Turkish basketball into the future,” he said, noting the vital role Garanti has played. “Turkish basketball is now building a stronger, more sustainable, and healthier structure. Behind this development lies a long-term vision and the right partnerships. Garanti BBVA is one of the most important strategic partners of this vision,” he added.
Meanwhile, Garanti BBVA CEO Mahmut Akten underscored how proud the bank is to sponsor Turkish basketball. For the bank, it means more than sponsorship, but a long-term investment that adds value to society. “We view sports as a powerful force that empowers young people, brings communities together and creates a shared sense of belonging. Values like team spirit, discipline and self-confidence are fully aligned with our ‘We Do It Together’ approach,” he said.
At the signing ceremony the Garanti BBVA CEO emphasized that: “Our signatures today represent more than just a contract. They reflect a shared vision, trust, and our belief in the future of Turkish basketball. We will continue to stand by all our teams with the same enthusiasm and determination. We sincerely wish all our national basketball teams every success.”
