BBVA and Fundación ONCE join forces to foster job opportunities for people with disabilities

BBVA's Head of Talent and Culture in Spain, Yolanda Martínez Bajo, and the CEO of Fundación ONCE, José Luis Martínez Donoso, have signed the ‘Inserta Empleo’ agreement to promote employment for people with disabilities.

Under this agreement, BBVA plans to hire new staff for its commercial network over the next five years, thereby reinforcing its commitment to workplace inclusion and equal opportunities in the professional environment. To facilitate their integration, the process will involve Inserta Empleo, the training and employment arm of Fundación ONCE, which will be responsible for pre-selecting the most suitable candidates and offering them personalized training tailored to the requirements of each position.

This partnership means that BBVA has joined the ‘Foro Inserta Responsable’ integration forum, a networking and social innovation platform that enables the sharing of practices, tools, and experiences that promote the effective development of policies for the integration of talented people with disabilities into the workplace.

The CEO of Fundación ONCE, José Luis Martínez Donoso, underscored the importance of the “strategic alliance we have with a financial institution such as BBVA, whose commitment goes beyond the inclusion of people with disabilities in its workforce to addressing disability in a holistic way in its relationship with the bank itself.”

BBVA's Head of Talent and Culture in Spain, Yolanda Martínez Bajo, said that "at BBVA we are committed to building a more diverse and inclusive environment, where everyone has the same opportunities to develop their talent. Signing this agreement with Fundación ONCE reinforces our purpose of making a positive impact on people's lives. Committing to the inclusion of people with disabilities is a decision that enriches our organizations and strengthens our commitment to a more equitable society."

Other BBVA initiatives to promote inclusion

BBVA has rolled out multiple initiatives in Spain to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in different areas of the bank. These include a partnership with Specialisterne, which has facilitated the hiring of 12 professionals with autism and Asperger's syndrome in technology areas. It also works with Eulen to hire people with mental and physical disabilities as receptionists and concierges at its Madrid headquarters, and runs internship programs for people with Down syndrome in branch offices. It also collaborates with the Adecco Foundation's Family Plan and carries out volunteer work, mentoring, and financial training activities focused on disability.

BBVA also has an Employee Resource Group (ERG), a network of volunteer employees who promote diversity and inclusion within the organization. This form of intrapreneurship allows barriers to be identified, inclusive proposals to be generated, and the value of personal relationships to be fostered, contributing to a more empathetic and representative corporate culture.
