BBVA, among the 10 best companies in the world according to Time magazine’s ‘World’s Best Companies 2025’
For the third year running, Time has published its World’s Best Companies 2025 ranking, with BBVA having climbed 37 positions compared with 2024, claiming eighth spot globally (45th in 2024). In Spain, it was ranked as the top performer in the banking sector. The ranking, which evaluates 1,000 multinational companies, assesses employee satisfaction, financial performance, and progress toward sustainability.

At the sector level (Banking and Financial Services), BBVA was once again recognized as the best bank in Spain and ranked second worldwide, out of 140 financial institutions analyzed.
“This recognition reflects the commitment and talent of everyone at BBVA. Being among the world’s top ten companies is a testament to the positive impact we can generate when we put people at the center and drive innovation and sustainability—two of our strategic priorities—across everything we do,” remarked Paul G. Tobin, Global Head of Talent & Culture at BBVA.
This distinction comes on top of several other recent awards, including Global Finance naming BBVA 'World’s Best Corporate Bank 2025'. The bank also recently scooped Top Employer certification as an employer brand and 'The Banker’s Technology Award' for best use of technology worldwide, among other notable accolades.
How the ranking is compiled
The world’s 1,000 best companies are selected on the basis of an independent methodology developed by 'Time' magazine and consultancy firm Statista, structured around three pillars, each with a weighting of 33 percent:
- Employee satisfaction: Based on anonymous surveys of around 200,000 people across more than 50 countries, covering six dimensions: corporate image, working environment, working conditions, salary, equality, and workplace.
- Revenue growth: Based on Statista’s financial data for the 2022–2024 period, including absolute growth and relative growth (CAGR). Only companies with revenues above $100 million and positive growth over the three years are considered.
- Sustainability transparency (ESG): Evaluates environmental, social, and governance indicators, including carbon intensity, human rights policies, female representation on governing bodies, regulatory compliance, and anti-corruption measures.
