BBVA launches a second tranche of €1 billion of its share buyback programme
This Wednesday, October 14, BBVA will resume the execution of its extraordinary share buyback programme of up to €2 billion euros, announced on July 30. Following the completion of the first tranche of €1 billion euros, the bank will repurchase shares for a further maximum amount of €1 billion euros.
The execution of this second tranche is expected to take between 12 and 16 weeks and is scheduled to be completed between January 7 and February 4, 2027. In any event, it will end when the maximum monetary amount (€1 billion euros) has been reached or the maximum number of shares (507,759,303) has been acquired. Once completed, the bank will cancel the shares acquired, thereby reducing its share capital.
J.P. Morgan SE will be responsible for executing the purchases on the Spanish Stock Exchange Interconnection System (Continuous Market) and the Cboe Europe, Turquoise Europe and Aquis Exchange trading platforms.
Of the €36 billion euros that BBVA expects to distribute to its shareholders between 2025 and 2028, the bank has already agreed to distribute around €14.2 billion euros through dividends and share buybacks, both ordinary and extraordinary.
