Flashback Friday: BBVA Compass celebrates Houston and Birmingham with super-sized bashes

Around this time last year, BBVA Compass was gearing up to help the city of Houston host professional football’s biggest game. What resulted was a bevy of activities, including charitable giving, delicious client dinners, and an initiative to help with traffic congestion.

But before the festivities came rolling into town, BBVA Compass found a way to honor Houston, the game’s host city, and Birmingham, Ala., the bank’s headquarters city, in an effort to extend the big game celebration beyond East Texas.

In the BBVA Compass’ External Communications Teams’ first ever #FlashbackFriday post, we look back to the twin Live Bright Bash parties hosted by the bank well before kickoff commenced almost a week later:

Houston Live Bright Bash:

On Jan. 21, BBVA Compass, BBVA Compass Stadium and CBS Radio hosted its version of the party, where country music artist Jake Owen headlined with fellow country musician RaeLynn, Tex-Mex pop rock group The Last Bandoleros and country singer and BBVA Compass brand ambassador Tyler Dial appearing. The event was free to the public.

“The entire evening, start to finish, was a Texas-sized celebration of Houston and Houstonians,” said BBVA Compass Chief Marketing Officer Jennifer Dominiquini at the time. “We’re ready to roll out the red carpet to visitors in anticipation for Feb.5!”

Birmingham Live Bright Bash:

A day later, the bank took its party to Birmingham in a celebration that included five simultaneous NFC and AFC Championship Watch Parties at various Birmingham locations in one day. The all-day celebration was hosted by on-air personalities from Summit Media radio stations. Former University of Alabama basketball star and NBA legend Robert Horry made a special appearance at one of the location.

“In spite of the rainy weather, we had such a good time celebrating with Birmingham today,” said BBVA Compass Birmingham Market CEO Andrea Smith.
