Agenda: What you can't miss in financial education

FED/GFLEC Financial Literacy Seminar Series

This joint initiative of the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center (GFLEC) - also a collaborating member of BBVA’s Center for Financial Education and Capability - and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System unites academic scholars, industry professionals and other experts to present and debate the most innovative research on financial education.

The seminars are open to the public and address all kinds of topics - from the challenges of financial inclusion and the innovations of machine learning to the inequalities caused by the pandemic.

National Financial Education Week (México)

The biggest financial education event in the country focuses on raising awareness among the population regarding the importance of using and managing resources appropriately. Promoted by the Mexican government, it will take place between November 4th - 18th and will be virtual, using forums that will be made available to the public.

The goals of this event include promoting financial education activities throughout the year, raising awareness among the population regarding the importance of this knowledge for their financial well-being, building skills and reinforcing what they learn through fun activities and educational materials.

EduFin Talks 2020 (Global)

BBVA's Center for Financial Education and Capability will hold its third edition of EduFin Talks. This is a space created for reflection and debate on the world of financial education and its main challenges for achieving an inclusive recovery after the pandemic. The virtual meeting will take place on November 17 with the participation of the field´s greatest international experts.

My first company (Argentina)

BBVA in Argentina has announced the fifth edition of My First Company aimed at young people between the ages of 17 and 25. Its objective is to develop, motivate and strengthen participants´ entrepreneurial and innovative spirits through learning and creativity.

Registration will be open until October 26. Participants must register as users and fill in the registration form. In this new edition, the contest includes more than 1 million pesos in prizes.

Pensions of the future (BBVA Asset Management)

This webinar, organized by the BBVA Institute of Pensions, the University of Valencia and Expansion, will be held on October 27 at 10:30 a.m. During the event, Rafael Domenech, Head of Macroeconomic Analysis at BBVA Research; José Antonio Herce, BBVA Institute of Pensions Forum of Experts  and member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Financial Education and Capability and José Enrique Devesa, professor at the University of Valencia, will talk about the keys to pensions of the future .

III EDUFINET Financial Education Congress (Spain)

This year’s edition´s theme is “Financial education in the face of a new economic and social order” and it will be held in an online format from November 16 to 20.

During this grand event, the results from the BBVA Institute of Pension´s IX survey "Financial education and future planning of millennials in post-Covid-19 Spain” will be presented by Luis Vadillo, director of the BBVA Institute of Pensions. The event will take place on November 20 at 11.35 am.

Online Course: Financial Education for Young People (Venezuela)

The online course Financial Education for Young People aims to present and reinforce knowledge about financial management and its impact on our lives.

Recommended for young people between the ages of 17 and 26, this course will be available on the BBVA Provincial Foundation website beginning the second week of November. Be sure not to miss out on the online course “The Basis of Entrepreneurship” either, which aims to define and conceptualize entrepreneurial initiatives. It was designed within the Google Classroom platform and developed in partnership with Andrés Bello Catholic University. At the end of the course, you can apply for three free consultancies. It begins on November 2nd.

"Your money, your friend" Program (Peru)

In Peru, the BBVA Foundation continues with its financial education program "Your money, your friend" with talks aimed at employees from various companies in the country. This program provides information regarding the relationship that we should maintain with money and with the main services and products offered by the system in order to achieve optimal financial health. Due to the current situation, the talks will be held via virtual platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet, reaching a greater audience.

Financial Education for the Holidays (USA)

BBVA USA is hosting over 150 financial education workshops through the end of 2020 with partner organizations across its footprint to promote the financial health of families and communities. With 15 different financial education topics in the areas of personal finance, home ownership and small business, these workshops meet people where they are by providing expert advice on how to save money, budget wisely and plan for the future. To celebrate families and communities that have struggled this year, BBVA USA will incorporate special surprises in workshops during the holiday season.
