BBVA corporate headquarters promote electric mobility fully powered by renewable energy
In 2024, nearly 58,000 charging sessions were recorded at BBVA's corporate headquarters in Spain, consuming more than 700,000 kilowatt-hours of energy. As the equivalent of approximately 4.12 million kilometers driven with clean energy, this initiative avoided the use of an estimated 313,000 liters of gasoline.

The charging stations, reserved exclusively for BBVA employees, are provided free of charge, with the bank covering all maintenance and electricity costs. These facilities, like the rest of BBVA’s Spanish operations, are powered entirely by renewable sources.
The scheme aims to reduce the environmental impact of work-related travel by encouraging electric vehicle use among employees. It adheres to BBVA’s principles of transparent, accurate and traceable sustainability reporting.
The program forms part of BBVA’s broader energy efficiency strategy and has been implemented in collaboration with Endesa. To date, the bank has installed 289 charging points across 14 buildings in Spain. The project is partly funded by Spain’s MOVES III Plan, supported by Next Generation EU funds.
New Global Eco-Efficiency Plan
At the Group level, 97 percent of BBVA’s electricity consumption is sourced from renewables. In Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, Türkiye, and Portugal, the figure reaches 100 percent. The bank aims to achieve full renewable energy usage in all regions where it operates, leveraging power purchase agreements, renewable energy certificates, efficiency measures, and self-generation.
BBVA is preparing to launch a new Global Eco-efficiency Plan, setting targets for 2030 and commencing in 2025. The plan focuses on reducing consumption to minimize the Group’s direct environmental impact and optimize resource use.
All objectives under the BBVA Group’s current Global Eco-efficiency Plan (2021–2025) were achieved ahead of schedule, in 2023.
