For the second year in a row, in its announcement of the winners of its World 's Best Private Banks Awards 2024, US magazine Global Finance has named BBVA as the best private bank in the world for sustainable investment.
Sustainability plays a central role in the BBVA Group's strategic priorities. The bank therefore works constantly to ensure customers are offered a personalized investment proposal that supports the transition to a more sustainable future. In recent years, BBVA has taken several strides forward in this area.
BBVA already offers customers a sustainable alternative across all product lines. In Private Banking, too, the bank is firmly committed to sustainable and responsible investment that abides by environmental, social and good corporate governance (ESG) criteria, while ensuring a good fit with customers' investment preferences. In addition, BBVA sees sustainability as a key factor in ensuring investment performance, through risk management and a focus on companies' sustainability, not only from an environmental point of view.
The ninth annual World's Best Private Banks Awards, to be presented on March 16 in New York, honor the organizations that best serve the specialized needs of high net worth individuals who seek to enhance, preserve and pass on their wealth.
In its report, the magazine pointed out that for three years in a row BBVA was the top-rated bank on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in Europe and second from the top worldwide. “The Spanish giant’s success rests on two pillars: alignment of all loans and investments with the Paris Agreement and a comprehensive range of sustainable products and services for the bank’s clients,” Global Finance said.
The publication also emphasizes that BBVA offers a family of sustainable mutual funds whose managers are committed to impact investing. It also constantly monitors the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) credentials of third-party funds through its proprietary Quality Funds platform. Sustainability-risk information goes digitally to private banking customers in compliance with the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation. Finally, Global Finance reports that BBVA now requires all of its private bankers to hold an external sustainability certificate.
In 2020 and 2022, BBVA Private Banking was named the best in the world for sustainability and responsible investment by the magazine Global Finance. Again this year, this award goes to BBVA and further confirms the bank's commitment to sustainability.

BBVA Private Banking in Spain has received several awards in recent years that showcase the investment solutions, services and innovation offered to customers by this specialized area of the bank. Recently, BBVA was also selected by the FT Group’s Professional Wealth Management magazine as Best Private Bank in Western Europe in digital solutions for clients in 2022 and Best Private Bank in Western Europe in technology and digital solutions in 2023.
