‘Top Líderes LGBTI+ 2025’ recognizes BBVA for its impact creating diverse and safe work environments

The Business Network for LGBTI Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) named BBVA as one of the leading organizations in the ‘Top Líderes LGBTI+ 2025,’ officially held on December 10 to coincide with International Human Rights Day. This recognition underscores the bank’s contributions to creating inclusive, safe and respectful work environments, as well as its commitment to equal opportunities.

The 2025 edition puts the emphasis on the value of the alliances, stressing the role of organizations that support, promote and implement diversity policies with inclusion as an ethical principle and a driver of innovation. In this sense, BBVA has demonstrated its unwavering commitment through its LGBTI+ diversity policies, the creation of mentoring and support programs for those who need them and by cultivating an inclusive corporate culture that recognizes and values the plurality of identities and experiences.

“For BBVA, diversity and inclusion are not a one-off initiative or a temporary project. They’re part of our corporate culture. We firmly believe that organizations prosper when people can be themselves, without fear or barriers, without their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression limiting their professional development,” said Carlos Pérez Beruete, Head of Culture and Engagement at BBVA. “This award recognizes precisely this commitment: creating work environments where each individual finds a safe space to grow; where equal opportunities are not an aspiration, but a tangible reality; where talent is not labeled, but valued.”

The executive expressed his gratitude for the recognition, underlining the value of our internal networks, those who develop outreach, training and support initiatives, those who dare to tell their stories and those who work every day – visibly or silently – to build a better place.

A role model for inclusive leadership

Carlos Pérez Beruete, Head of Culture and Engagement at BBVA, abd Alicía García, Head of Technical Architecture in Commercial Client Solutions area at BBVA, receive the 'Top Líderes LGBTI+ 2025' recognitions

Furthermore, Alicia García, Technical Architecture in Commercial Client Solutions area at BBVA, was named one of the ‘Top Líderes LGBTI+ 2025’ in the ‘Driving Force’ category. Alicia García promotes diversity and inclusion both within and outside the bank, co-leading the ‘Be Yourself’ intrapreneurship working group and representing BBVA as a member of the REDI Board of Directors.

‘Top Líderes LGBTI+ 2025’, now in its third year, is a REDI initiative, with support from the magazine Actualidad Económica. It aims to give visibility to those doing their part for respect toward the group and equal opportunities in the corporate world. Winners are selected by an independent jury of professionals from the corporate and diversity fields.

This year, the project received the highest level of institutional support, following the acceptance of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain of the Honorary Presidency, which consolidates the human rights dimension associated with these awards and reinforces the importance of promoting work environments where everyone can develop their full potential. This year, the jury evaluated over 130 nominations from various economic sectors, assessing their transformative impact and ability to create positive role models in the corporate world.
