Garanti BBVA Secures EUR 400 Million in DPR Financing

Garanti BBVA has raised a total of EUR 400 million in diversified payment rights (DPR) financing on international markets under its foreign borrowing program, with maturities of 1,907 and 2,547 days. The transaction, the bank’s first DPR financing since 2019, earmarks EUR 100 million to support the investment and growth needs of women and young entrepreneurs.

The transaction forms part of Garanti BBVA’s strategy of diversifying its wholesale funding sources on international markets and strengthening its access to long-term financing. The DPR structure is based on the bank’s existing and future foreign currency payment orders.

EUR 100 million for women and young entrepreneurs

Of the total, EUR 50 million will be channeled to small and medium-sized enterprises owned or managed by women. The remaining EUR 50 million will go toward the financing needs of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises owned or managed by entrepreneurs under the age of 35.

Garanti BBVA CEO Mahmut Akten said the bank’s strong relationships on international markets and its ability to access a range of funding sources are among the cornerstones of its long-term funding strategy. “With this EUR 400 million DPR transaction, we are diversifying our funding sources while also strengthening our international partnerships,” he said, adding that financing for women and young entrepreneurs, combined with advisory and development support, will contribute to the growth and competitiveness of their businesses, and that Garanti BBVA will continue to offer solutions that support the sustainable and inclusive growth of the Turkish economy.
