Unal Gokmen, head of Garanti BBVA Leasing, and Smart Energy CEO Halil Demirdag, recently signed the contract stipulating the terms under which both companies will contribute their domestic and international experience to drive new investments across the country, and generate new synergies for the sector.

“From Garanti BBVA Leasing, we’ll support the projects launched by Smart Energy, a company with a strong profile as investor, manufacturer and project developer in the solar energy field, through sustainable leasing financing,” explained Garanti BBVA’s executive after the signing of the agreement.

For Gokmen, this partnership with Smart Energy represents a great boost to the sector and will drive investment in these projects. “We offer our customers the possibility of assembling their own electric generation facilities to cover their needs and the chance of paying only for what they consume, instead of paying bills for their consumption from the public grid. In this manner, we’re creating sustainable financing solutions for all our customers,” he said.

The Head of Garanti BBVA Leasing underscored his unit’s 30 years supporting the leasing industry. He also expressed the bank’s current interest in closely monitoring the evolution of the solar power sector, due to the increase of investments in solar manufacturing and installation enterprises. “All our vision in renewable energy and our experience in solar farm financing are now reflected in these solar roofing projects,” he said.

Underscoring the importance of financing instruments for solar power investments, Smart Energy CEO Halil Demirdag noted that “this agreement between Smart Energy and Garanti BBVA Leasing is a crucial step, and a sustainable and nationwide contribution both for the industry itself and the country’s economy.”

Finally, Demirdag explained that his goal is to help build a green future and that, in order to do so, they are looking forward to working closely with key partners, such as Garanti BBVA Leasing. “Investments can benefit from the backing that both Smart Energy and Garanti BBVA Leasing will offer them. Thus, we’ll be able to make a significant contribution to the development of solar power in Turkey,” he said.
