Garanti BBVA Launches Request to Pay API for a New Era in Collections
Garanti BBVA has gone live with its BKM-integrated Request to Pay API, enabling businesses to manage collections directly from their own systems while offering customers a fast, easy, and seamless bill-payment experience. The solution was piloted in partnership with energy company Uludağ Elektrik.
The new solution allows businesses to generate payment requests via the Garanti BBVA Request to Pay API without needing to log in to the bank’s digital channels, making the collections process faster, more flexible, and operationally more efficient. Under the pilot with Uludağ Elektrik, eligible customers automatically receive a payment request through their banking app and can settle their bill with a single confirmation—helping to reduce missed bills, failed direct debits caused by insufficient balances, and the friction associated with manual payment processes.
Garanti BBVA Executive Vice President Cemal Onaran said the API reflects the bank’s service banking vision of developing solutions that integrate directly into customers’ business processes. “We believe this solution will help businesses manage cash flow more effectively, increase operational efficiency, and accelerate their digital transformation,” he said. Uludağ Elektrik CEO Remezan Arslan described the initiative as an important step in transforming payment habits, noting that the company sees digitalization not merely as a technology investment but as a holistic transformation that improves the customer experience.
Built on the FAST infrastructure developed by the Central Bank of Türkiye (TCMB) and BKM, the API uses BKM’s Easy Address System (KOLAS) to let businesses send secure payment requests to individual or corporate customers without the need to share IBANs. The solution is aimed particularly at SMEs, commercial, and corporate clients, who can apply through the Garanti BBVA Developer Portal and integrate the system end-to-end through a fully digital onboarding process.
