BBVA Consumer Finance provides financing for 10 percent of sustainable vehicles via the app in Spain

BBVA Consumer Finance continues making strides in its goal to promote sustainable transportation in Spain. Currently, one in ten sustainable vehicles financed by the bank is contracted through digital channels, underscoring the success of a service that combines advice, financing and a catalogue of ‘ECO’ and ‘CERO’ vehicles, sourced exclusively from official dealerships. The adoption of digital channels has surpassed initial expectations and confirms the growing interest among customers in solutions that facilitate the transition toward a more efficient mobility model.

Through ‘BBVA Movilidad,’ a feature on the bank’s app and website, customers can access a comprehensive experience that helps them choose and finance a new, or up to 12-month-old electric vehicle. This digital channel allows users to view a national catalogue of ‘ECO’ and ‘CERO’ vehicles, explore all financing options and access relevant information on charging stations, current public incentives, insurance and other additional services.

BBVA’s proposal is based on supporting customers through the decision-making and purchase process. The bank acts as an advisor, helping to address common questions regarding sustainable transportation, range, maintenance or assistance, and facilitating direct access to an official dealership, where they can test drive the vehicle and complete the purchase if they wish to do so.

BBVA is working to expand its catalogue to cover the entire country for ‘ECO’ and ‘CERO’ vehicles up to 12 months old. To this end, the bank is currently working with over 150 distributors, representing more than 700 official dealerships throughout Spain.

“’BBVA Movilidad’s’ evolution is proof that customers increasingly value digital solutions that let them make the move to more efficient and sustainable transportation. The fact that one out of every ten sustainable vehicles that we finance is contracted on digital channels demonstrates that we are on the right track,” said Xavier Vila, Head of Automobiles in BBVA Consumer Finance Spain.

BBVA, the bank for dealerships

BBVA Consumer Finance has consolidated a model that puts dealerships at the heart of its business. For over 34 years now, the bank has been supporting the sector with financial solutions that are tailored to every stage of the business.

BBVA Consumer Finance expects to surpass 140,000 financed transactions in Spain and Portugal in 2025, representing more than 20 percent growth compared to the previous year, when 110,699 transactions were complete, with pre-owned and used vehicles accounted for more than 50 percent of the total.

This activity positions BBVA Consumer Finance as a leader among independent finance companies in the dealer-sourced channel. When transactions carried out by Commercial Banking are included, BBVA is currently one of the most significant players in the Iberian market.
