BBVA receives the ‘Young Talent Promoting Company’ certification from the Fundación Universidad-Empresa

The Fundación Universidad-Empresa (FUE) has honored the financial institution for its steadfast commitment to learning, training, and the professional development of interns in Spain.

BBVA, together with Acciona and Telefónica, has become one of the first companies to earn the title ‘Young Talent Promoting Company,’ a newly introduced distinction awarded by the FUE. This accolade recognizes firms that demonstrate a firm commitment to fostering student interns and upholding high standards of training that assure quality development for aspiring professionals.

“At BBVA, we believe that investing in young talent is an investment in the bank’s future and in society at large. Young people offer fresh perspectives, different modes of thinking, and a transformative energy that propels innovation and progress,” said María Gómez Seco, head of Talent Attraction and Mobility at BBVA. “We are driven by the conviction that young talent not only reshapes organizations but also the broader world we share. This recognition is a testament to our teams’ dedication to that mission: to guide, inspire, and open doors for the next generation.”

Attainment of the new certification entails a rigorous evaluation, ensuring an optimal learning environment and providing a meaningful benchmark for the management of young talent. In turn, this process bolsters the capacity of organizations to train, attract, and retain highly qualified young professionals. The certification also offers guidance to educational institutions as they seek to collaborate with companies dedicated to talent development, thereby ensuring internships that deliver genuine educational value to students.

The assessment framework for this new certification is built around five key pillars: internship design; offer and selection process; onboarding; mentoring and supervision; and additional training. The certification is supported by Cámara Certifica and enjoys the backing of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce.

“For us, training a young intern is far from a mere formality: it is an opportunity to teach, inspire, and transform,” observed Carmen Palomino, CEO of FUE. “Such an endeavor demands a robust model rooted in excellence, innovation, and continuous support. That is why we set out to create a standard to recognize and guide those companies that see internships as an investment in the future.” For over half a century, the FUE has linked academia and industry, seeking to activate, educate, and advance the next generation of talent.
