BBVA Named Europe's Best Employer by Financial Times

BBVA leads the European financial sector in the latest edition of Europe's Best Employers 2026, compiled by the Financial Times and Statista. It is also the highest-ranked Spanish company on the list.

BBVA ranks 20th out of the 1,000 European companies analyzed, a significant improvement on its position in the previous edition. The bank is the leading bank in Europe and Spain among the 54 European financial institutions included in the study. It also leads the ranking of Spanish companies, making it the best company to work for in Spain among the 16 Spanish organisations featured.

“Being named Europe’s best bank to work for reflects the importance BBVA places on its people and to building a work environment that supports professional development,” said Paul G. Tobin, BBVA's Global Head of Talent and Culture. “Our commitment to talent and continuous innovation enables us to deliver on our purpose of helping our customers go further.”

This distinction cements BBVA's position as one of Europe's most attractive companies for talent and highlights its commitment to a culture built on collaboration, flexibility, continuous learning and positive impact.

In recent months, BBVA has further developed its approach to people management through new initiatives designed to nurture talent, strengthen team well-being and continue building a more agile and collaborative corporate culture. The bank has also accelerated the rollout of AI capabilities across the organization, enabling new ways of working. BBVA has also stepped up its commitment to continuous learning and professional upskilling, alongside policies designed to promote diversity and inclusive, people-centered leadership. All of this forms part of the bank's strategy to build an innovative and flexible working environment.

Ranking methodology

The ranking, compiled by the Financial Times and Statista, identifies Europe's best employers, with the aim of highlighting organizations that create attractive working environments and are able to attract talent in a highly competitive labor market.

The ranking is based on an independent survey of employees at organizations with at least 500 workers in Europe. The methodology combines two types of assessment: direct evaluations, relating to employees' willingness to recommend their own company, and indirect evaluations, based on recommendations of other companies in the same sector. The scoring model gives greater weight to direct feedback and to data collected in the most recent year.
