The awards, given to the bank at Visa’s annual DPS Users’ Conference in March, recognizes excellence among high performing issuers that process with Visa DPS in categories that drive business growth and cardholder satisfaction. In addition to winning the award for Highest Portfolio Growth, BBVA Compass was also a finalist in the Excellence in Innovation category.

According to Melissa Smith, SVP Debit and Prepaid, the honor is not just indicative of the value customers find in ClearSpend, but also highlights its dedicated sales team.

BBVA Compass ClearSpend is a win-win when it comes to helping clients manage money, with a free mobile app and real-time alerts built in

BBVA Compass ClearSpend is a win-win when it comes to helping clients manage money, with a free mobile app and real-time alerts built in,” Smith said. “But it’s the team of retail bankers across the bank’s footprint that deserve recognition for their dedication to making sure the card is in the hands of our customers who can benefit the most.”

The 2016 Visa DPS Client Achievement Awards were presented at Visa’s annual DPS Users’ Conference.

The BBVA Compass ClearSpend is a Visa prepaid debit card that gives customers better control of their financial lives by providing a mobile budgeting app for tracking and managing everyday spending. After 30 days of spending, the mobile app automatically creates personalized budgets -- which clients can adjust -- for groceries, entertainment, transportation, dining out and other categories based on monthly spending habits. Real-time in-app mobile alerts contain information on transaction amounts and locations, current balances and category budgeting trends, helping clients monitor purchases and control spending. Clients can block or unblock a card, as well as report a card lost or stolen from within the mobile app.

“This card puts customers in control,” Smith said. “The built-in budgeting feature within the mobile app really makes it so easy for customers to seize control and have success in creating their own opportunities for a bright future.”

Customers can apply for the BBVA Compass ClearSpend online, at any BBVA Compass branch or by downloading the free BBVA Compass ClearSpend mobile app from the Apple iTunes App Store or Google Play. Funds can be added to the card in several ways, including: by loading funds from a BBVA Compass debit card on the app, by direct deposit, by transferring funds to ClearSpend with services like Popmoney, or by loading cash at any BBVA Compass branch or Visa ReadyLink location.
