Garanti BBVA employees have commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye with an exhibit titled ‘One Hundred Years Ago, One Hundred Years Later: Mustafa Kemal Pasha's Path to the Republic in Photographs.’

“It's the determined action in the countries where this foundation is present, and above all, the real transformation in so many peoples' lives, that urge us to hope and strengthens us,” Her Majesty said during the ceremony held to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the BBVA Microfinance Foundation (BBVAMF). BBVA Chair Carlos Torres Vila said, "in recent years the Microfinance Foundation has made a commendable effort to bring digitalization and connectivity to microentrepreneurs and their communities, as a driver of development and a gateway to opportunities." The event also served as the occasion to premiere the documentary 'After the Rain,' a tribute to the courage and resilience of the more than six million vulnerable people that the Foundation has supported over these past fifteen years.

Founded in 2011, the platform by Garanti BBVA has received more than three million visitors in ten years thanks to its original offer of content and activities. The entity encourages participation and learning and preserves collective memory, which it makes available to future generations through freely accessible archives and research resources, as well as exhibits and programs.

A short meeting first thing in the morning can be more productive than a two hour meeting at midday, and a team working on a project no longer needs to complete one phase to start the next. These are two examples of what BBVA employees have learned since they incorporated agile methodologies into their daily working lives, practices that have been further strengthened in the last year under the pandemic.

Garanti BBVA Mobile’s innovations and benefits have earned the bank an iF Design Award, one of the most prestigious in the world of design.

Garanti BBVA held the Turkish round of the world’s largest fintech competition, BBVA Open Talent, for the fourth time at the Impact Hub in Istanbul. Five startups reached the finals of the event, which encourages innovating businesses to submit cutting-edge creative projects that contribute to financial technology. Pisano was the event’s top prize winner and as such has qualified to attend the BBVA Open Summit in Madrid on October 24.

More than 60 Engineering team members are one step further along on their path to become Ninjas, and recently earned “belts” at a ceremony recognizing their accomplishments. The Ninja Project, a global initiative founded in 2016, empowers and supports continuous learning and self-development while showcasing the talent and technical prowess of Engineering team members at BBVA.

At an event celebrating the winner of BBVA Momentum 2018 last night, BBVA Compass executives announced the opening for 2019 Momentum applications, as well as a second opportunity for entrepreneurs to win up to $60,000 for their businesses, called the Entrepreneurial Opportunity of the Year contest presented by BBVA Compass and The Business Journals.

BBVA is the only bank participating in the European Business  – Education Summit organized by the European Commission and CSR Europe in Brussels. At the meeting, BBVA’s Executive Member of the Board, Head of Global Economics, Regulation and Public Affairs, José Manuel González-Páramo, defended the importance of providing young people, not only with financial education, but also entrepreneurial skills, to boost Europe’s economy.

BBVA has signed a 240 million euro sustainable loan in favor of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, the first loan of this kind granted by the bank to an autonomous region in Spain.

The terms ‘coaching’ and ‘mentoring’ are often used as if they were synonyms. However, although both terms are related to improving professional skills, they are similar, but not identical, concepts.

A total of 87 entrepreneurs from five countries have been selected to participate in BBVA Momentum 2017, the most global edition of BBVA’s program of social entrepreneurship. The selection was made from among a total of more than 700 candidates from Spain, Mexico, the United States, Colombia and Turkey.

More than 600 entrepreneurs from Spain, Mexico and the United States have signed up to participate in the sixth edition of BBVA Momentum, BBVA´s support program for social startups. The registration phase ended on April l16 and the selection period has now begun. On May 22, the names of all the entrepreneurs selected in each country will be announced.

BBVA Momentum is not your typical business funding program, because it places a special emphasis on strategic mentoring, training and support. However, businesses enroll in the program for a number of reasons, including the possibility of being awarded a cash prize that will allow them increase their impact. For this reason, the new edition will continue providing access to investment, but with a different approach.

At BBVA Momentum, entrepreneurs go back to school, but this time in an innovative way that fits in their fast-paced lifestyle. Technology is the new edition’s biggest ally, allowing participants to refresh their knowledge, acquire new skills and interact with each other.

BBVA launches the sixth edition of its social entrepreneurship support program, which from now on will be global – it will be developed in Spain, the United States, Mexico, Turkey and Colombia –, will offer support to more companies and will adjust better to the reality of social entrepreneurs. BBVA Momentum channels its support through five initiatives: a training program; a strategic mentoring program; a network of entrepreneurs, customers and investors; collaboration to provide visibility to the companies; and, finally, funding.

Nobody wants to go into a care home. Based on this premise, Saraiva Senior, a project by Sacendi (a social and healthcare company that provides integrated services for the elderly in Pontevedra), aims to implement a new approach to care for the elderly. The company, a participant in BBVA Momentum, BBVA's support program aimed at social enterprises, is determined to change mindsets, promote a positive vision of aging and renew the traditional concept of the care home. The director of this social enterprise, Lucía Saborido, its associate director, Noelia López and its technical director, Ricardo Fra Otero, explain how.

Many of the Momentum companies have focused on making life easier for others through technological solutions. Their ideas are overcoming obstacles and giving new meaning to the lives of thousands of people.

Momentum, BBVA's program in support of social entrepreneurship, is today a benchmark in the sector. Since its first edition in 2011, it has driven the expansion process of 56 companies with high social impact in Spain, 30 in Mexico and six in Peru. Many of them have succeeded in making a niche for themselves in the market thanks to their pioneering products or new approaches to business.
