One of BBVA GW’s goals is to promote non-financial art-related issues, incorporating new opportunities for customers throughout 2020.

Second year of BBVA MUSIC SESSIONS starts fast in Houston with acclaimed singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin, along with special guest, MAX
BBVA and AEG, as part of its multi-year agreement, are jump starting the second round of BBVA Music Sessions starting on August 30 in Houston, celebrating the 183rd year since Houston was founded with a free concert in the heart of downtown. Powered by AXS, the kickoff of the award-winning concert series is headlined by platinum-certified singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin, who started taking over playlists with his now RIAA platinum certified single “Let Me Down Slowly” from his critically acclaimed debut mixtape “Narrated For You.” Most recently, the young artist released his spellbinding and biographical new single “Jesus in LA” alongside an official video that tackles the highs and lows in the city of Angels. Joining Alec will be MAX, who is fresh off his iHeartRadio Music Awards nomination as 2019’s Best New Pop Artist and known for his global hit ‘Lights Down Low’.

The BBVA Foundation brings the artist Jenny Holzer to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao
The exhibition “Thing Indescribable” by Jenny Holzer will be open to the public until September 9th. Sponsored by the BBVA Foundation, the exhibition consists of a wide range of artwork created specifically for the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. BBVA Foundation Director Rafael Pardo, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Director Juan Ignacio Vidarte, the artist Jenny Holzer and curator Petra Joos attended the opening event.

The BBVA Foundation sponsors 'Lee Miller and Surrealism in Britain’ opening at the Fundación Miró
The exhibition brings together nearly 200 works reconstructing some of the lesser known phases of Surrealism in the 1930s,1940s, and early 1950s – through the lens of Lee Miller. The exhibition is organized like a dialog between Miller’s photographs and works by artists such as Max Ernst, Leonora Carrington, Man Ray, Eileen Agar, Paul Nash, Salvador Dalí, Giorgio de Chirico, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, Maruja Mallo, Dora Maar, and others.

El Prado rediscovers Lorenzo Lotto, the most modern of the Renaissance portrait painters

The BBVA Historical Archive is a private business archive that traces its roots back 160 years, to the bank´s founding in 1857. Located in Bilbao, it houses the basic documentation of the three banks that would later form BBVA: Banco de Bilbao, Banco de Vizcaya and Argentaria. During the 19th and most of 20th Century, their geographical context was largely limited to Spain; it was only at the end of the 20th century that BBVA began its international expansion.

El Prado museum to host temporary exhibition of the treasures of the Hispanic Society
When Juan Vespucci drew the first complete image of the world, 500 years ago, he could have never imagined that his Mapa Mundi would be flying around the world from a still not very well traced location in North America. 200 artistic treasures from the most prominent collection of Spanish art outside the Iberian Peninsula have travelled from the home of the Hispanic Society of New York, to dress up the walls of the Prado Museum, from April 4th through September 10th.

As any visitor to my house will be able to tell, I love maps. Our living room is full of them. A Soviet map of Portsmouth (complete with Cyrillic labels) gazes across the room at old maps of South America and Italy. A large Mercator world map occupies an entire wall while Charles Minard’s celebrated map of Napoleon’s ill-fated Moscow campaign hangs in the hallway.

BBVA Compass leads the way for new Degas opening at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston
BBVA Compass added another brush stroke to its big picture commitment to the arts, becoming the lead corporate sponsor of “Degas: A New Vision” at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
The exhibition features more than 200 pieces by celebrated Impressionist Edgar Degas, taken from public and private collections from around the world. It is the most significant international survey of the work of Degas in nearly 30 years, and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston is the only U.S. venue to present the exhibition. It opened on Oct. 16.

El Bosco. El jardín de los sueños (Bosch: The Garden of Earthly Delights) will premier in Mexican theaters this weekend. Directed by José Luis López Linares and sponsored by the BBVA Foundation, the documentary will also be released in the U.S. on September 24th.
For almost a decade, the BBVA Bancomer Foundation has been supporting the filmmaking vision, dreams and talent of young university students through its Hazlo en Cortometraje (Do it in a Short Film) contest. This year’s contest, with over 1,113 submissions, has been a success. The works are produced by Mexican students – the contest only recently opened to participants from other countries – and focus on topics that basically aim to drive a change in attitude among society with respect to different issues.

The Turkish Way, the second movie by the Roca brothers and BBVA, will be premiered on Monday 19 September at the 6th edition of the culinary section of the San Sebastian Film Festival. This second installment follows Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca during their trip to Turkey before the 2015 BBVA Tour, which over a period of 5 weeks visited several countries to pay tribute to their cuisine. The owners of El Celler de Can Roca discovered the history and gastronomic potential of Turkey through young chefs, sommeliers and local producers.
